Herman's Heroes Win FNF VIII

Coach Drakeular and his Necromantic Team, Herman's Heroes have won the replay of the Grand Final of Friday Night Fights VIII.
Herman's Heroes won 3 - 0 vs the Dark Elf team Cruor Conventio coached by Justorius.

The first Grand Final was abandoned because of a Blizzard (ie. disconnention).

Coach Drakeular was quoted as saying "When a Zombie (No14 Pastaway) can catch a pass and sprint into the Endzone to score a Touchdown (GFI x 2) with Dark Elves tripping over their own feet, you know its a good day to be Undead".

Australian Block Dice

Hi All

There is a IndieGoGo Campaign to create Australian themed Blocking Dice of various colours, this has been launched by Virral the Commissioner of Eucalytpus Bowl.

So if you are interested in getting some cool Aussie Blocking Dice go see this link and contribute to get some.
http://www.indiegogo.com/aussieblockdice?c=home

As the Commissioner of the Australian Blood Bowl Nationals at Cancon I have contributed to create a unique Cancon Colour Scheme Dice Set as a free gift to registered Cancon coaches.
This also had the effect of unlocking an additional colour (Croc Hunter) which contributors can select from and has helped to unlock an exclusive free set for contributors, the Baggy Greens set.

It is also being discussed on Ausbowl, see link for pics of prototype dice.
http://www.ausbowl.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8310

The cheapest contribution is $10 US for a random colour set of 3 Aussie Blocking Dice, it is very likely now that all the contributors will get a free set of the exclusive Baggy Greens with their order, so that is 2 sets of Aussie Blocking Dice for $10 US and no postage cost.
The individual Set price goes down as more sets are purchased.
The exchange rate currently means it is a little less that $10 AUD which is great.

After the Baggy Greens set is unlocked the next goal will be another colour.

Not sure who is interested so I'm just spreading the details around.

FNF Cup Round 5

The 5th and final round of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is complete!

It was another great, and particularly violent, week of Blood Bowl action - with 4 deaths, 15 injuries and an impressive 26 Knock-Outs! All the action - from all this round's games - is available on Cabalvision.

Here are Jim and Bob with their selection of  this week's highlights:

And that wraps up the regular season for FNFVIII - leaving the standings at:

Congratulations to Coach Drakeular and Herman's Heroes for this first place finish.

But we are far from being done just yet, as we now move on the Semi-Finals! The match-ups are:

1st Drakeular Hermann's Heroes (Nec) v Maxwell's Golden Hammer (Nor) Big A 4th
2nd Axebreaker Couronne Saints (Hum ) v Cruor Conventio (DaE) Justorius 3rd

It should be an exciting final series to determine who will win the FNFVIII Cup!

Sylvania Shield

The House of Axebreaker is proud to announce to the start of an exciting new post-season competition:

The Sylvania Shield

An All Vampire League - for Vampires (and Thralls) Only

SS Rules:
  1. The structure of the League will be determined by the number of teams (we'll need at least four). Regardless of the number of teams - the duration of the competition will be quite short.
  2. TV1000 Vampire Teams ONLY.
  3. Because the competition consists of just Vampires (and Thralls) - teams will be allocated a team colour by the commissioner to minimise confusion (you can't all have Red).
  4. Coaches are strongly recommended to play a few practice games with Vampires as Hypnotic Gaze and Blood Lust can be challenging and quite fiddly.
  5. As per the FNF - vulgar or obscene team or player names will not be accepted.
  6. All games must be upload to BBM so we can enjoy watching everyone cope with Blood Lust.
  7. If you don't have BBM (or just can't get it to work) - you may still enter as long as you send the Replay File to the House of Axebreaker after each game.
  8. The aim is get the competition over and done with before the start of FNF IX. So don't muck about and play your games as soon as possible.
Season Starts:  Thursday 01 November

Entry: e-mail the the House of Axebreaker to register - dave_clarke@bigpond.com
League details, password info and team colour will be forwarded to you once numbers have been finalised.

Saints Draw

Earlier in the week the Couronne Saints and the Cruor Conventio fought it out for a 2-2 Draw.

It was one of the season's more exciting games. With four Touch Down, three Deaths (two of them permanent) and a further four casualties - the game fully earned the 20/20 awarded by Bastard & Claws - the match rating agency.  A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

A draw was enough to keep the Saints in second place and secure their berth in the finals - where they will play a re-match against the Dark Elves  in the Semi-Final.

Tributes and condolences are again, sadly, pouring into the House of Axebreaker following the death of Pascal Lerond. Affectionately known as "The Other Catcher" - he will be sadly missed by all.

FNFVIII Cup Round 4

Round 4 of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is now complete.

It was another action packed round. Technical difficulties with the Cabalvision Network means only the Saints v Hammers game is available in full (worth watching for the Ogre passing game). Nevertheless, most of the other two games can also be also be viewed before transmission is lost in the second Half.

Here are Jim and Bob with their selection of this weeks highlights.

This leaves the standings at the end of Round 4 at:

Round 5 is shaping up to be a real thriller as the teams jockey for one of the four places in the finals to contest the prestigious FNFVIII Cup!

Givo The Black Plagues (Ska) v Maxwell's Golden Hammer (Nor) Big A
Axebreaker Couronne Saints (Hum ) v Cruor Conventio (DaE) Justorius
Supercoach Shreking Crew (Ogr) v Hermann's Heroes (Nec) Drakeular

Dave
(aka Axebreaker)

Saints Win

Earlier (much earlier) in the week, the Couronne Saints defeated Maxwell's Golden Hammer 2-0.

A full replay of the match is available on Cabalvisions - well worth watching, if only to see the Saints' Ogre, Fulimodo, pass the ball for a Touch Down right on full time!!

The fact that Fulimodo, who also killed the Hammers werewolf, Nigel Piledriver, did not receive the MVP is another nail in the coffin for the match officials' credibility

FNFVIII CUP Round 3

Round 3 of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is now done and dusted.

This round saw the welcome return of Coach Drakeular - who has successfully evaded the angry mob and is back to practicing his dark athletic arts!

On the field there were some great games and some great Blood Bowl action. The Saints and Heroes match featured an impressive six Touch Downs, the Conventio somehow managed to keep the Plagues' quartet of leaping Gutter Runners out of the End Zone for the entire game, and, perhaps most impressive of all, the Crew's Ogres beat the Hammers.

Tune into Cabalvision for all the action. We are having some technical difficulties with the Ogre v Norse match - but hope to have the full replay available soon.

Jim and Bob are here to present a special tribute to the Lightning Bolt - as Wizards played such a key role in all this weeks matches!

At the end of Round 3 - the standings are:

So, on to the Round 4 Match-Ups:

Axebreaker Couronne Saints (Hum) v Maxwell's Golden Hammer (Nor) Big A
Givo Black Plagues (Ska) v Shreking Crew (Ogr) Supercoach
Justorius Cruor Conventio (DaE) v Herman's Heroes (Nec) Drakeular

Dave
(aka Axebreaker)

Saints Lose

Earlier in the week the Couronne Saints were defeated by the Necro Herman's Heroes 4-2.

The fact that they had to play at all came something of a shock to the Saints - as the Necros were still assumed to be missing-in-action following an altercation with the local authorities.

Nevertheless, it was a great game with a remarkable six Touch Downs scored and plenty of injuries. Indeed, several of the Saints  players are no doubt wishing that a cushy Draw had been on offer as they nurse their injuries into next week.

A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

With all the action on offer, we have once again expanded the Highlights Sheet to capture as much of the game as possible.

FNFVIII CUP Round 2

Round 2 of the Cup phase of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is now complete.

With this season's Necromancer, Coach Drakeular, still out of action - just the two matches were played. Nevertheless, there is some great Blood Bowl action to seen in the replays of both matches on Cabalvision.

The standing at the end of Round 2 are:

Round 3 Match-Ups are:

Givo The Black Plagues (Ska) v Cruor Conventio (DaE) Justorius
Supercoach Shreking Crew (Ogr) Maxwell's Golden Hammer (Nor) Big A

With the following match to be entered as a 1-1 Draw:

Axebreaker Couronne Saints (Hum ) v Hermann's Heroes (Nec) Drakeular

Dave
(aka Axebreaker)

Saints Draw

Friday night saw the Couronne Saints and the Black Plagues play out a 1-1 Draw.

The match was a far-cry from the Touch Down-a-thon of their Championship encounter - with both teams really struggling to generate any momentum. The Saints made several assaults on the Plague's goal line - only to be brought down time and again by the dogged Skaven defence.  For their part, several golden opportunities were squandered by the Plagues though uncharacteristically clumsy plays.

A full replay is available on Cabalvision

FNFVIII CUP Round 1

Round 1 of the CUP phase in the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is now complete.

Unfortunately, Coach Drakeular, like so many necromancers before him, has been forced to relocate after the local peasantry, wielding flaming brands and pitchforks, stormed his unholy laboratory.

Local citizens seeking a quiet word with Coach Drakeular

Hopefully, he'll soon be able to find an abandoned castle in which to practice his nefarious arts and revive his team.

In the meantime, the FVFVIII continues and here are this weeks standings after the first round of Cup matches.

Round 2 Match-Ups are:

Givo The Black Plagues (Ska) v Couronne Saints (Hum ) Axebreaker
Supercoach Shreking Crew (Ogr) v Cruor Conventio (DaE) Justorius

Due to the aforementioned difficulties being experienced by Coach Drakeular - the following match will be entered as 1-1 Draw

Big A Maxwell's Golden Hammer (Nor) v Hermann's Heroes (Nec) Drakeular

Saints Win Big

Earlier in the week the Couronne Saints opened up their FNFVIII Cup campaign with a convincing     4-1 win over the Ogres' of the Shreking Crew.

It was a remarkable reversal of form for the Saints who hadn't won a game since Round 1 of the Championship - and whose last encountered with the Ogres resulted in a pain filled draw with lots of casualties to the humans (without harming so much as a single Snotling!!).

In contrast, this week they ran in Four Touch Downs and caused a satisfying Seven casualties. A full replay is available on Cabalvsion.

Saints Draw

Earlier in the week Couronne Saints and the Black Plagues played out a spectacular 3-3 draw.

It was a match that had everything - deaths, casualties, magic, unbelievable leaping, accurate passing and plenty of Touch Downs!! So good was the match, that the game rating agency, Bastard & Claws, awarded it a rare 20/20 Match Rating.

All the fanatstic action from the game is available on Cabalvision!

In fact - with all the great Blood Bowl action on offer - we've even decided to expand our usual highlight sheet by 50% to do full justice to the game !

FNFVIII Championship Round 4

Round 4 of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is over.

And it was another spectacular round of Blood Bowl action! With all the games available on Cabalvision for you to download and enjoy!

The talk of the round is obviously the Shreking Crew Ogres' incredible win over the Necromantic Herman's Heroes - a match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats throughout!

Jim and Bob are here once again to pick their highlights from this weeks games>

We now approach the final round that will decide the Championship - so there should be some great contests to watch in the coming week.

Here are the standing at the end of Round 4:

Saints Lose Again

The Couronne Saints lost another game earlier this week - going down to the Norse of Maxwell's Golden Hammer 2-1.

The Saints, still recovering from the physical beating they received from the Ogres last week, hired the legendary Griff Oberwald to play for them. Despite his presence, some early casualties and several persistent Knock-Outs saw the Saints outnumbered throughout the match and only able to field seven players at the start of the second half. Not nearly enough to stop a full team of crazed Vikings!

A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

FNFVIII Championship Round 3

Round 3 of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is now complete.

It was another great round - and you can catch all the action on Cabalvision. The contest for the Championship phase of the competition really tightened up with this week and almost anyone can now take home the shield.

One of the highlights (or lowlights, depending on your point of view) was the brutal carnage inflicted by the Shreking Crew Ogres on the Couronne Saints. It may take a while for humans to recovered from that match - especially as this week they face the foul-prone Norse outfit!

Here are Jim and Bob with this weeks highlights:

The standings at the end of week 3 are:

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Earlier in the week Couronne Saints could only manage a 1-1 draw against the Ogres of the Shreking Crew.

It was a match the Saints would rather forget as the Crew ripped gaping holes in the Couronne line-up. A full replay is available on Cabalvision. (Caution: Cabalvision wishes to advise that the replay contains Strong Violence).

Tributes and condolences continue to pour into the House of Axebreaker after the tragic death of Phillippe DuMonde, one of the strongest and certainly most popular humans to ever play the game.

Round 2 of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is over.

Saints Lose in the Rain

The Couronne Saints lost to Herman's Heroes 2-1 earlier in the week in a rain soaked match!

The first half was a tightly contested affair with the Necromantic Heroes eventually scoring late in the half. But the Saints caught-up right on the siren with the longest of Long- Bombs you are ever likely to see!!

Unfortunately for the Saints, the second half was a disaster with the team experiencing repeated difficulties in picking-up the ball and eventually the Heroes' star werewolf, Fang Bitsabit, carried it over the line for his second, gaming winning, TD.

A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

FNFVIII Championship Round 1

The First Round of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is complete.

It was a spectacular round - and all games are available on Cabalvision for you to enjoy.

The Match of the Round has to go to the Shreking Crew  v Maxwell's Golden Hammer match - Willie Wonka went through the Ogres like a hot knife through butter - injuring SIX Ogres - including Morg'N'Thorg!! (The Claw, Mighty Blow, Piling-On combination will clearly trouble many teams this season) . Even more surprising still was the fact that, despite the carnage, the Ogres nearly won the match!!

Here are Jim and Bob with their pick of this weeks highlights:

This leaves the standings after Round 1 of the Championship as follows:

Couronne Saints Win

Greetings Sports Fans,

In their first game in two years - the Couronne Saints managed to narrowly beat the Dark Elves of the Cruor Conventio 2-1.

After such a long-break, some key skills were a bit rusty, with the Saints failing four of their first five attempts to pick-up the ball. But they soon found their rhythm and managed to score twice. The strength of their blocking game also still needs some work as they failed to inflict a single casualty on the Dark Elves.

In contrast, the Dark Elves played a hard hitting game that saw four Saints removed from the field badly hurt. The Dark Elves also hired a talented Wizard who managed to cast two Fireballs in the game. Indeed, the Cruor Conventio can count themselves unlucky not come away with any Competition Points as a few key stumbles on Dodges and Go-For-Its caused critical turn-overs at inopportune moments.

A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

Thanks to Justorius for the game - see you in the Cup rounds :)

FNF VIII - Game On!

Hi Sports Fans,

FNF Season VIII - Champions Grand Slam - is about to begin.

A majority of teams hail from Season V, with the return of Black Plagues, Maxwell's Golden Hammer, Cruor Conventio and Herman's Heroes in this season's line-up.

We also have a real Blast-From-The-Past as the Couronne Saints, the winners of the first ever FNF Grand Final all the way back in Season II, have joined the league.

But the most surprising entry are the Ogres of the Shreking Crew - winners of the recent SNS 3 competition. If these guys win, their coach will well and truly earn the title of Super Coach.

SNS3 - Final

Greeting Sports Fans,

With apologies for the delay in the announcement - the Speccy McGroan Cup was awarded last week to the Ogres and Snotlings of the Shreking Crew - coached by Supercoach.

The Crew won the SNS 3 Final with a convincing 3-0 win over the Goblins of The Pink Projectiles. It was a great final - be sure to catch the replay on Cabalvision.

Congratulations to Supercoach - who earns the great honour of graffiting his team's name on to the prestigious "Speccy' McGroan Cup.

The hightlights of the Final were selected by the Treeman Legend, Deeproot Strongbranch!

After three seasons of the Saturday Night Stunties, all three of the stunty races - Halflings, Goblins and Ogres - have now each won the 'Speccy' McGroan Cup once. Stay tuned for Saturday Night Stunties IV to see which race can be the first to win it for the second time!!
