FNF VI - Regular Season Now Complete

Hi Sports Fans,

The last game of Round 13 has finally been played and, so, that concludes the regular season of FNF VI. It's been a great season - with some great games Blood Bowl. Over the last 13 Rounds there were 34 Deaths, 365 Casualties from all causes, and 266 Touch Downs scored!!

And so we progress to the Finals! The four finalists are all truly deserving qualifiers with Big-A's Skaven out in front as this season's Minor Premiers - the next three teams: Supercoach's Wood Elves; Drakeular's Undead; and Justorius' Humans, all finished on equal Competition Points - so nothing but net Touch Downs separates them into 2nd through 4th respectively!

As usual, Jim and Bob are here to present their selection of highlights from the Round 13 games broadcast on Cabalvision.

And a big thanks to all those coaches that supported Cabalvision throughout the season by uploading all (or nearly all) their games - hopefully next season we can get an even higher participation rate.

The round has been rolled so the  FNF VI Semi-Finals can begin:

RUN Danger Mouse  v  Erengrad Easybeats
Passing Fancy v  Morgue Machine

May the best teams win!!

P.S. Don't forget the post-season Stunties Comp. There are just two spots still open to contest the much esteemed 'Speccy' McGroan Cup!

Saturday Night Stunties II

Yes, folks, it's nearly time once again for the post-season battle of the stunties.

8 Teams
2 Pools
3 Rounds
Ending in the "Speccy" McGroan Stunty Final!!

Did You Know....

Reports of ‘Speccy’ McGroan’s death may have been premature!

Speccy, who was cut by the Evil Gits last year after achieving a life-time best of 9 fumbles against the Creeveland Crescents, was one of the most incompetent players to ever take the field in the long history of Blood Bowl. 'Speccy' set up some fantastic scrambles for the ball with over 30 fumbles in a single season.

Asked about Speccy’s fate, Evil Gits coach Bargull Whipdeath said "‘E diserfed it, so I cutz 'im from 'ere to 'ere. ‘Ow he lived, I’ll nefa know".

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Middenheim Marauders have paid 20,000 Crowns for Speccy ... to play for the Chaos All-Stars.

SNS Rules

Dark Elves Finish Season With A Win

Earlier today the Har Ganeth Blades finished the regular season with a convincing 3-0 win over the Amazons of Heff's Hotshots

The final game of the season for both teams was characterised by record amount of stabbings!! Two Dark Elf Assassins and the Amazon's Zara the Slayer put on great display with their respective knives and sharpened stakes - causing two casualties and several KO's between them. A full replay of all that stabbing action, and more,  is available on Cabalvision!

And that ends the Har Ganeth Blades season. It was great run home for the team - winning five and drawing two of their last seven games. But they never recovered from the absolute horror start that saw them lose five of their first six matches. The Dark Elves are great team that never realised their full potential under this particular coaching regime.

So, what does the future hold for the House of Axebreaker? Only time will tell, but be assured the coaching staff are already pouring over the lists hoping to select just the right team that might see a return to the glory days of by-gone seasons :)

Thanks to Damo for the game - although he has announced he won't be joining us next season - I hope he will decide to return to FNF some time in the future :)

FNF VI - Round 12 Wrap Up

Hi FNF Fans,

Round 12 is now complete - so we have only one round to go in the regular season! There was plenty of action this week as the teams jostled for final positions with 3 deaths, 29 casualties from all causes and an impressive 22 Touch Downs scored. It was, unfortunately, a fairly quiet week on Cabalvision with just the four games available for viewing.

The top four teams that will contest the finals have all but been decided, but if your favorite team isn't there - don't despair - there still one more round left for them to clobbler their opposition and what could be more important or fun than that!

Here are Jim and Bob with their selection of some of the best highlights from the week.

Round 13, the final round of the season, has begun and is scheduled to be completed by late Thursday night 26 January.

And another reminder that Season VII is just around the corner - so if you are interested in entering a team - let me know!

FNF VI - Round 11 Done

Hi there Sports Fans,

Another week has gone by, and it was another great round of FNF Blood Bowl. This week saw 4 Deaths, 24 casualties from all causes and an impressive 23 Touch Downs scored. Cabalvision carried all but one of the games played this week  - so there's plenty of action to be viewed there.

The finals are fast approaching and it will be an interesting last couple of rounds as the composition and structure of the finals are decided. And almost all categories of the Player Awards are still too close too call - so there is still plenty for all teams to play for in the final two rounds of the regular competition.

Here are Jim and Bob with their selection of some of the best highlights from the week.

Round 12 is up and running and is scheduled for completion by late Thursday night  19 January.

And don't forget to let me know if you keen to enter a team in Season VII.

Dark Elves Draw

Last night the Har Ganeth Blades played out a 1-1 draw against The Disease of Drakenmoor.

During the week the Dark Elves had hired a second Assassin and Blades fans everywhere were keen to see how the new look, and much stabbier, team would perform. The result was mixed - the stabbing attacks, foiled by high armour and the foul appearance of many of their Nurgle opponents, failed to do much at all. Shadowing, however, proved its worth on a couple of key plays. The acquisition of the additional Assassin also resulted a modest inducement advantage for the Nurgle team. And although it was only limited amount of inducement cash on offer, they certainly got value for their money as both the Potions they purchased kicked-in and boosted the agility of two of their Beastmen. A full replay of the match in available on Cabalvision.

Next week the Dark Elves have some time off following the disappearance of this season's  Goblin franchise. So the Dark Elves have just one game to go against the Amazons in the final round of Season VI.

Thanks to Adam for the game - it was a tight contest throughout!

Fractured Fairy Tales

There was a Deathly silence in the air. The crowd knew something was afoot for this seemingly innocuous battle between the 5th placed Spirit Dragon Sky Knights and last placed Heff’s Hot Shot’s.

Rumour on the street had it that the Luscious Lords of Lustria were back in town, and hell have no fury like a team of Blood thirsty women scorned. Alas, the Elves have no such desire to traverse such lowly areas, let alone listen to such foolish tales, and so remained oblivious to the brewing storm ahead.

Coach ZenThaalX, friend, mentor and once coach of the proud and fearsome warrior women had overstepped his bounds when he accepted an offer to coach a bunch of soft Elves, who’s own spirit totem was the much despised Spirit Dragon, long opposed by the Women of Lustria.

A lesson had to be taught and penance worn. The Luscious Lords had easily overcome the big, yet soft-breasted pretenders who claimed Amazon heritage. They were tied and gagged, as for coach Zelithian, some say he blended into the shadows overcome with fear at the sight of the proud and powerful women.

Enlisting the help of long time ally and companion Zara the Slayer, all that was left to do was coerce a coach to bring their much rehearsed retribution to fruition. It didn’t take long.

Axebreaker, Arch-rival and long time opponent of the plucky yet prosperous coach ZenThaalX, had no qualms in playing his part in this devious scheme. Some say he’s never been the same since his Vampires missed out on the FNF’s IV finals series, ironically enough to the Luscious Lords themselves, and ultimately lost his number one ranked coaching status.

It was a Blood Bath from beginning to end. Donning the ‘Heff’s Hot Shot’s colours and Garb the Lords wagged an unseen war against their unaware opponents. “Winning the Toss” the Reff wound the clock forward a couple of turns, then the Luscious Lords pummelled the Elves into submission. Slowly and methodically they made their way down the field. This was an entirely unexpected play by the Amazons, for the Elves and the coach had trained long and hard, where were the passes, the dodges, why were these girls hitting like sledge hammers?

By the end of the Amazon drive, most of the Elves were pulling themselves off the pitch or the dugout and dusting themselves off for the last couple of turns of the half. It wasn’t pretty, especially as the apothecary had already been used to bring one lucky Elf back from the here-after.

But if the Elves could do one thing well, it was score quickly. Unfortunately the Amazons attack wasn’t the only improvement in their game, and all the Elves succeeded in doing was loosing more players from the pitch.

Never mind, the second half would see the Elves score the equaliser and battle it out for the match. Unfortunately the Ref “tripped” as the siren sounded for the second half kick-off and the Amazons Blitzed before the ball had even landed. A shallow kick-off saw the Amazons field their own kick and the Elves were left staring on in horrified amazement.

It wasn’t long before the Elves found their legs and wrestled the ball back from the dominating women. For a brief period, both players and coach felt a TD was well within their grasp, though the much needed victory remained a forlorn hope. However their dreams were shattered as yet another wave of female fury washed over the hapless Elves and as the tide rose, the waves of destruction became unbearable.

Not even the nimble, quick and intelligent Elves lead by coach ZenThaalX could muster any kind of equaliser. In the end, all opposition was futile and the backbreaking turn over happened with both body and Spirit rent asunder. It was a humiliating and devastating defeat that may have cost coach ZenThaalX more than his 6th straight Finals series, but more importantly, his will to ever play squishy Elves again.

All in all it was a perfectly executed plan by the Luscious Lords of Lustria, who will be celebrating their own barbaric sense of justice. And, no doubt, will be inviting coach ZenThaalX back to their domain at the end of the season to undergo a hatchet burying ceremony and to remind ZenThaalX of his ‘place’.

FNF VI - Round 10 Wrap Up

Greetings all,

Round 10 is now complete - and it was yet another action packed week of Blood Bowl excitement. Not only did we see the two top teams face-off in a cliff hanger of a match - but it was also by far the most violent round of the season to date with 5 players killed and a staggering 37 casualties from all causes. Add to that the 19 Touch Down scored - and we have just seen one of the best rounds of the season so far. All the games played this round are available on Cabalvision.

As usual, here are Jim and Bob with their selection of some the best highlights for the week.

In other League news, you have all no doubt heard that the Goblin Coach (Luke - Ahriman Ormuzd) has decided to leave the league. I'm sure you'll all agree that is a crying shame as he proved himself to be one of the League's top coaches.

Unfortunately, the Gobbos have lost the key to their locker room (Luke can't remember his password) so we can't arrange a substitute to take over the team for the final few matches. I have, therefore, decided (in consultation with the SOCEM think-tank) that the Gobbo's remaining opponents will be granted Forfeit wins. I believe that this is probably the fairest course of action and the one most likely to reflect the most probable outcomes were those games to be played. It does mean that those teams get a casualty-free rest week and receive double winnings - but it also means that they don't get the opportunity to hit lots of tiny stunties nor the chance try to beat the Wood Elves 7-0 record against them.

The round has been rolled and Week 11 has begun. Ideally, I'd like to get us back on the normal weekly schedule and would appreciate it if all coaches could try to get their games completed by late Thursday night 12 January.

Dark Elves Win Their Fourth Game

Last night the Har Ganeth Blades defeated The Fluffy Pussy Cats 2-0.

On a field that was blanketed by snow for the entire match, the Dark Elves continued to show their remarkable late-season improvement in form. For a team that lost five of its first six matches - recent weeks have seen a dramatic turn around. Although it is undoubtedly a case of too little too late for Season VI - it is, nevertheless, a welcome sight for the long suffering Blades fans to see their team win a few matches. A full replay is available of the match on Cabalvision.

Silent Steel put on the play of the day when he stunned two opponents with a single swipe of his dagger! Unfortunately for him, and the team as a whole, the MVP was awarded to a dead journeyman (seriously, who decides these things!)

Thanks to Qman for the game. A tough ask to step in halfway through the season and take over a team - especially Chaos!
