Guardians Draw

Hi Blood Bowl Fans,

Last night the Lothern Guardians and Fat Freds Freaks fought it out in thrilling 3-3 Draw.

It was a game of two halves - with Nuffle smiling on the Lizards in the first half and then shifting his favour to the High Elves in the second.

The Freaks had raced away to 2-0 lead halfway through the first half - courtesy of a Blitz on the opening kick-off and the inability of the High Elves to do much right at all. The teams then traded another TD each - leaving the Lizards well ahead on the scoreboard. But in the last part the second half the Guardians - aided by a Blitz of their own on the last kick-off - pulled some truly remarkable passing plays that resulted in two late Touch Downs to tie the score!! A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

A draw means neither team is now able win the Championship - but both teams will enter the Cup rounds fielding full teams with plenty of experience and their eyes firmly on the FNFVII prize!

A big thanks to Givo for the game - it was a truly memorable match. And the High Elves will looking forward to meeting you and Fat Fred's boys again in the Cup.

Guardians Lose

Earlier in the week the Lothern Guardians lost 2-3 to the in-form Wood Elves of the Asrai Arachnids.

Both teams put on a spectacular aerial display of great passing. Three of the five TDs were scored from Long Passes into the End Zone!! Both teams went TD for TD in the first half which finished with both teams on two points a piece. The Wood Elves next trip to the End Zone occurred mid-way through the second half, leaving plenty of time for the equaliser. But wasn't to be - a Pitch Invasion by the feisty crowd left only five High Elves standing and a dropped pass - stalled the High Elves drive and time ran out with them still well short of the End Zone.

It was great game that amply demonstrated the skills of Blood Bowl elf-style - a full replay is available on Cabalvision.

A fairly disappointing result for the Guardians was compounded by the mercenary ring-in walking off with the MVP and the receipt of  a measy 10,000gp in prize money (despite being earlier promised much more!!)

Arachnids Win Two in a Row!

Tonight the Asrai Arachnids pulled off an, admittedly, unexpected win against the Lothern Guardians.

The two teams were trading touchdowns, but the Arachnids managed to score first in the second half, taking the lead, and managed to keep the ball away from the Guardians in the dying stages of the game, after knocking their ball carrier into the crowd, while being unable to score another TD themselves...

The Arachnids gained four skills: Kick on a Line Elf, Leader on the Thrower (giving the team a valuable extra re-roll, taking the total now to two!), Side-Step on the rookie Wardancer, who managed two TDs in her first game, and +1 MA on the not-quite-so-rookie Wardancer (it was hard rolling that 6+4 - I wanted to give her Strip Ball, but the choice between AV 8 or MA 9 was a tough one...).

It didn't go all the Arachnid's way, however, with their only Catcher being, once again, badly hurt early on in the first half. He is still sitting on - you guessed it! - 0 SPPs... :-D

Kudos to Axebreaker who played a great game, but unfortunately Nuffle deserted him at some crucial points.

The game will soon be on Cablevision for your viewing pleasure.

Cheers,

Coach Nestyr

FNFVII - Championship Round 3

Greetings Sports Enthusiasts,

Round 3 of the FNFVII Championship has come and gone and there were some great games of Blood Bowl played this week! And five of the six games are available on Cabalvision for us to enjoy!

This week there were 12 TDs, and the fans were finally treated to some deadly action as there were 4 deaths in this week's total of 27 casualties from all causes. This included the shock demise of the Scions of Happiness' Minotaur, Brikog, who was kicked to death while prone by a gang of Rotters!

With two rounds to go - the Championship is still very much up for grabs. While the Lothern Guardians have the narrowest of leads - well over half the teams still have every chance of taking the prize!

Here are Jim and Bob with this week's highlights:

Bye for now...

New From the House of Axebreaker

Declining numbers attending the matches of the Lothern Guardians - just 7,000 fans at this week's game - motivated us to set our marketing people to coming with an answer to how to boost the popularity of our FNF franchise team.

Luckily someone remembered that our Vampire legal consultants - Dachnavar, Nachtzehrer, Vasher & von Ungren - had locked the lovely Ms Milano in to a very long-term and extremely binding PR and merchandise modelling contract on our behalf.

The House of Axebreaker is, therefore, pleased to present Alyssa Milano and the latest in must-have supporters attire.

Guardians Win Another

The Lothern Guardians won their second game of the season this afternoon - with an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Dark Smells!!! Dark Elf outfit.

The High Elves were in fine form throughout the match - although they lost both Catchers during the course of the game - the team's Line-elves stepped and ran in all three Touch Down. A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

The win also sees Guardians narrowly squeeze Fat Fred Freaks out of first place in Division 1.

FNFVII - Championship Round 2

Hi there Blood Bowl Fans,

It was another great round of FNF action this week and a great round for the fans with all six games being broadcast on Cabalvision. For those who like a good cry - check out the Asrai Arachnids game!

There were 15 Touch Downs this week and 27 casualties from all causes, but - largely due to the heroic efforts of several team Apothecaries and Necromancers - just a single death!

It's early days yet, but two teams, the Rusty Cage and Fat Freds Freaks have already risen to the top of their respective divisions. Can it finally be, as he's been heard to boast, Coach Givo's season? Or will Coach Big-A finally get past that Semi-Final hurdle and take the prize? Or is all such speculation ridiculously premature at this stage of the season?

Here are Jim and Bob with their selection of some of this week's best highlights:

See you all next week....

Arachnids 0 from 2

I was going to try and write a very eloquent match report this time around, but quite frankly the game and my performance were so poor, that I can't be bothered.

Suffice to say, I started the game with ten healthy players, with one coming back next week.

I now have eight healthy players, a Lineelf who died, but got better, only to then receive a fractured skull (-1 AV), another lineman with a pinched nerve, and a Wardancer with a smashed collar bone (-1 ST).

In retrospect, I probably should have waved goodbye and shed a tear for Ballay, the unfortuante lineelf, as he would be replaced by a journeyman, and saved the apothecary for a positional player (like the Wardancer, maybe).

The more players that left the field, the more risks I had to take, and the more my guys decided to fall down.

To add insult to injury, the scoreline was 4-0, and I earned a grand 20,000 coins for the performance (Same as last week, though I received 60,000 somehow).

But on the bright side, I managed to repeat the outstanding performance I pulled off last week with regard to star player points. That's right! One SPP from a sole completion on the last turn of the game, and the MVP. If I keep going like this, I might have as many as four or five skills by the end of this set of games!

Well done to Beldenox on his performance. His Ghouls were dodging like Elves should, compared to my players who seemed to have lead in their feet.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. I played the first game quite aggressively, and it cost me. I was more restrained this time around, and got beaten up worse this time...

To my next opponent, you should have a field day against me... :-D

Cheers,

Nestyr

FNF Trading Cards

The House of Axebreaker is pleased to announce the release of our second Player Trading Card  This week's card features Harkot Ottman - Blitzer for Drakeular's Legion.

Guardians Win

The Lothern Guardians won a convincing victory last night - defeating Drakeular's Legion 2-0.

It was a brutal game - especially for the Humans. The High Elves inflicted four casualties in the first half - three of them in a single passage of play. The worst injury was to the Legion's thrower, Bertolf Frefon, who sustained a Smashed Collar Bone. The Human Apothecary tried but failed to heal him, leaving Frejon with long-term damage that must place a big question mark over his future.

The High Elves were far more fortunate - although one of their two injuries was a death, the team's recently hired Apothecary well and truly earned his fee by reviving the deceased player!!

A full replay is available on Cabalvision!

Coach Givo, who managed the team for this match, has apparently gone in to hiding pending the return of team owner Coach Drakeular! Thanks for the game Givo - wherever you are!

FNFVII - Championship Round 1

Greetings Sports Fans,

Welcome to the seventh season of FNF and this season's first End of Week Wrap-Up from the House of AxebreakerIt looks like it's going to be another great season of Blood Bowl - with everyone wondering just how the new Grand Slam format will impact upon the season's final outcome.

The first round of the Championship games produced some hard fought draws and a couple of big wins. There were a total of 12 Touch Downs this week and 21 Casualties from all causes - but, disappointingly for the fans, this included just a single death. But the biggest casualty of the round was the Coach of the Dark Elves - who just up quit in the middle of a game.

As usual, most of the FNF games are available on Cabalvision - this week five (well... four and a half) of this week's six matches are there for your viewing pleasure.

We are pleased to announce that Jim Johnson and Biff Bifford will once again be presenting their selection of the best highlights each week, Here are their picks for this week:

Until next week...

Guardians Draw

The Lothern Guardians began the new FNF VII season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Necromantic Red Riding Hood Rockets.

Defence was the order of the day for the High Elves as they held the ball only briefly at the start of the second half. But that was enough for them score via a great passing play! The Rockets had most of the possession but struggled to advance the ball through the Guardians tight defence - crossing into the End Zone just once at the end of the first half.

A very even match that saw just one Touch Down and one Casualty apiece. A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

Thanks to Adam for the match. See you again in the Cup rounds!

SNS II - Hotpot Hobbits New Stunty Champions

Greetings All,

The 'Speccy' McGroan Cup was decided earlier tonight in an entertaining match between the Skarbrand Trappers and the Hotpot Hobbits - with the Halflings emerging as the new Stunty champions with a 2-0 win over the Ogres.

The Trappers won a convincing victory in the body count - causing five casualties (one death and four serious injuries). Unfortunately, for them, they got nowhere near actually scoring a TD. The Halflings had the opposite problem - running in two unanswered Touch Downs but causing just a single casualty (it was, however, death!) All full replay of the game is available on Cabalvision.

Stunties Blood Bowl is all about fun and entertainment - and to celebrate this fact we invited the goblinettes and squiqs of the Low Down Rats cheerleading squad to present this week's highlights.

Congratulations to Coach Drakeular - who takes out his second consecutive Stunties title and earns the privilege of graffiting another team name on to the prestigious 'Speccy' McGroan Cup.

That's it for Saturday Night Stunties II - a big thanks to all the coaches who participated - particularly Givo who stepped in to take over the orphaned Halfling team.

And don't worry Stunty fans - there will be plenty more pint-sized action in SNS III (once that boring old FNF season is finished)

Arachnids Defeated in First Game by Freaks

The Wood Elf team, the Asrai Arachnids, were soundly defeated by the Lizardman team, Freds Fat (Fast?) Freaks, and their own bad luck, tonight.

Fumbles, failed dodges, and failed ball pick ups were the norm for the first half, but the Freaks emerged unscathed, while the Arachnids managed to cause four self inflicted casualties (fortunately all Badly Hurt) and numerous KOs to themselves over the course of the match. A smashed hand rounded out the Arachnid's injury woes. The lack of bodies on the field allowed the Freaks to run in three unopposed touchdowns.

The Arachnids racked up a solid 1 SPP for the game, not including the MVP, and did manage to net 100,000 GCs in their kitty (40,000 + 20,000 = 100,000, according to the game) allowing them to purchase an apothecary, and save towards another re-roll.

For a good chuckle, why not watch the game on cablevision?

Kudos to Givo for a good game, though not much fun was had by the Arachnids. They considered chucking the game in at half-time, quitting the league, and sulking (but good sportsmanship prevented them from doing this - Bazinga!).

The Arachnids are looking forward to the next round.

Cheers,

Nestyr
