Current Standings

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Earlier in the week Couronne Saints could only manage a 1-1 draw against the Ogres of the Shreking Crew.

It was a match the Saints would rather forget as the Crew ripped gaping holes in the Couronne line-up. A full replay is available on Cabalvision. (Caution: Cabalvision wishes to advise that the replay contains Strong Violence).

Tributes and condolences continue to pour into the House of Axebreaker after the tragic death of Phillippe DuMonde, one of the strongest and certainly most popular humans to ever play the game.

Saints Lose in the Rain

The Couronne Saints lost to Herman's Heroes 2-1 earlier in the week in a rain soaked match!

The first half was a tightly contested affair with the Necromantic Heroes eventually scoring late in the half. But the Saints caught-up right on the siren with the longest of Long- Bombs you are ever likely to see!!

Unfortunately for the Saints, the second half was a disaster with the team experiencing repeated difficulties in picking-up the ball and eventually the Heroes' star werewolf, Fang Bitsabit, carried it over the line for his second, gaming winning, TD.

A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

FNFVIII Championship Round 1

The First Round of the FNFVIII Champions Grand Slam is complete.

It was a spectacular round - and all games are available on Cabalvision for you to enjoy.

The Match of the Round has to go to the Shreking Crew  v Maxwell's Golden Hammer match - Willie Wonka went through the Ogres like a hot knife through butter - injuring SIX Ogres - including Morg'N'Thorg!! (The Claw, Mighty Blow, Piling-On combination will clearly trouble many teams this season) . Even more surprising still was the fact that, despite the carnage, the Ogres nearly won the match!!

Here are Jim and Bob with their pick of this weeks highlights:

This leaves the standings after Round 1 of the Championship as follows:

Couronne Saints Win

Greetings Sports Fans,

In their first game in two years - the Couronne Saints managed to narrowly beat the Dark Elves of the Cruor Conventio 2-1.

After such a long-break, some key skills were a bit rusty, with the Saints failing four of their first five attempts to pick-up the ball. But they soon found their rhythm and managed to score twice. The strength of their blocking game also still needs some work as they failed to inflict a single casualty on the Dark Elves.

In contrast, the Dark Elves played a hard hitting game that saw four Saints removed from the field badly hurt. The Dark Elves also hired a talented Wizard who managed to cast two Fireballs in the game. Indeed, the Cruor Conventio can count themselves unlucky not come away with any Competition Points as a few key stumbles on Dodges and Go-For-Its caused critical turn-overs at inopportune moments.

A full replay is available on Cabalvision.

Thanks to Justorius for the game - see you in the Cup rounds :)

FNF VIII - Game On!

Hi Sports Fans,

FNF Season VIII - Champions Grand Slam - is about to begin.

A majority of teams hail from Season V, with the return of Black Plagues, Maxwell's Golden Hammer, Cruor Conventio and Herman's Heroes in this season's line-up.

We also have a real Blast-From-The-Past as the Couronne Saints, the winners of the first ever FNF Grand Final all the way back in Season II, have joined the league.

But the most surprising entry are the Ogres of the Shreking Crew - winners of the recent SNS 3 competition. If these guys win, their coach will well and truly earn the title of Super Coach.

SNS3 - Final

Greeting Sports Fans,

With apologies for the delay in the announcement - the Speccy McGroan Cup was awarded last week to the Ogres and Snotlings of the Shreking Crew - coached by Supercoach.

The Crew won the SNS 3 Final with a convincing 3-0 win over the Goblins of The Pink Projectiles. It was a great final - be sure to catch the replay on Cabalvision.

Congratulations to Supercoach - who earns the great honour of graffiting his team's name on to the prestigious "Speccy' McGroan Cup.

The hightlights of the Final were selected by the Treeman Legend, Deeproot Strongbranch!

After three seasons of the Saturday Night Stunties, all three of the stunty races - Halflings, Goblins and Ogres - have now each won the 'Speccy' McGroan Cup once. Stay tuned for Saturday Night Stunties IV to see which race can be the first to win it for the second time!!
