Vipers Climb To Second Place

The Tlaxtlan Vipers notched up their fourth win of the season in hard fought and close game against the Orca-Cola Killers.

The Vipers won the toss and elected to receive. They lost little time in scoring the first first TD courtesy of a dash up the side-lines by Acalan. Immediately after the restart the Orcs began knocking the Vipers players off the pitch with the first of the four Injuries and three KO's they would dish out over the course of the game. Some wayward passing stalled the Orc drive, but as the clock wound down on the half, Mokfang was just range of the End Zone. But a miscommunication between the Killers very large coaching staff saw the chance for the equaliser lost as the Orc Blitzer merely threw a Block rather than attempt to Blitz, Dodge and Sprint his way through to the End Zone.

Receiving the ball at the start of the second half, the Orcs once again began smacking the Vipers around with several more Lizards leaving the field. The Killers push down the right flank almost succeeded but the Vipers' defence managed to knock the ball loose and it was whisked away by Eztli to other side of the field. Skinks might be fast, but not fast enough, as Gamber knocked the ball free, scooped it up and made his way into the End Zone!

With time short and just seven players on the field the Vipers chances of scoring looked slim. Even more so when the Orcs got the jump on the Lizards with a Perfert Defence. But the Killers kick-off put the ball out-of-bounds after which it was placed in the relaible hands of Eztli. With a small escort of Saurus, Eztli took off up the left flank, hugging the sideline, towards the End Zone. The Killers attempts to stop him failed and he scooted across the line - giving the Vipers a narrow victory!

Thanks to Ben for the game - it was a bloody affair with the Orcs winning the Biff convincingly - meaning the Vipers will take to the field next week down two Sausus!!
