Match Report - Twicksters vs Hippies

It was a fine start to an elf heavy league, with Twicksters All Star Elves matched against the Dancing Hippies.

The Hippies received, and what seemed like moments after the ball had landed it was in the hands of a wardancer, and Twicksters scrimmage line was on the ground. Despite putting up a good defence, the wood elves were too good, and the hippies made their first touchdown in round 4.

As the first half continued, Twicksters Elves fought to respond, but the leaping wardancers were too much for them, shutting down the offense in the final rounds.

The second half saw much of the same. A Riot broke out extending the game a turn, and the cheering fans pumped the wood elves up. It seemed The Twicksters were having problems mobilizing, with players not able to get into position in time, to the extent of leaving the ball carrier out in the open, and at the mercy of the woodies.

The Twicksters fought on however, finally responding with a touchdown of their own. But the wood elves had found there rhythm and the Wardancers once they had the ball, refuse to be put down. It wasn't long before the scoreboard showed 2-1 in favour of the wood elf team, leaving only 2 turns for the equalizer.

The Twicksters received the final kickoff in fine form, passing the ball into the waiting hands of a catcher who raced up field. However once again the wardancers showed why they get the big bucks, forcibly taking the ball and passing it across field to wardancer number 2, who took off into the Twicksters half with a single escort.

The crowd sat on the edge of their seats, with one turn left each, would the dancing hippies wardancer beat the few remaining defenders and score a third touchdown, or could The Twicksters take him down and get the ball to their waiting receiver for an equalizer.

It seemed that the Twicksters Blitzer had had enough of these tree huggers, and broke away from the scrimmage line to pound the wardancer to the ground, the one and only time it seemed that an elf had gone up against a wardancer and came out on top. However so proud of himself for doing what the rest of the team could not, he stepped forward catching the bouncing ball, and then stood waving at the crowd until the final buzzer sounded, oblivious to the receiver crying out from down field to throw the damn ball.

It was a close game, demoralizing for the Twicksters, whose passing game was in good form, but just couldn't manage to run the ball in when it counted. They left the field unscathed to the jubilant cries of the Dancing Hippies, who sustained a single injury.
