Waldenhof Bloods' Season is Over

The Waldenhof Bloods failed in their last desperate bid to make the finals this week when they lost to Wasteland Runners 3-1.

Although the result on the scoreboard was a disappointment for the Vampires, they went out in fine style. It was a match that had a bit of everything: magic, potions, spectacular passing, great TDs and, especially, plenty of violence that a cut a bloody swathe through the rat outfit that will ensure the Vampires’ presence will continue to be felt well into the finals.

The Skaven won the toss and elected to receive. The Vampires use of a lightning bolt delayed, but didn’t stop, the Runners moving the ball quickly down field. The Skaven Apothecary (and the assistant hired for the match) soon had their hands full as both of team’s Gutter Runners were hit hard early – Itchy was too far gone to help and he’ll miss next week too, but the team’s star, Talon Sharptooth was quickly patched up and soon back on the field. Meanwhile Gummy Rat Trap carried the ball over the line for the opening TD.

The restart started with a High Kick that allowed Ubour Dachnavar to cleanly field the ball and he dashed up the right flank towards the End Zone. As the rats scrambled to stop him, Talon Sharptooth was again hit hard and suffered a Serious Concussion that will not only keep him out of next week’s quarter-final, but also leaves with him with a nasty injury that he’ll carry for the rest of his career. Despite the loss of Sharptooth, the Runners' got on with business and soon put a stop to the Bloods' drive as Kwetuk, beefed up on a strength enhancing potion, smacked down Dachavar, badly injuring the super-strong Vampire, and knocking the ball off the pitch. An obviously partisan crowd hurled it back deep in the Bloods half allowing Krifle Sneek to grab the ball and carry it over the line for a TD long before any of the Bloods players could get anywhere near him or the ball.

The second half began with the diminished Runners able to field only 9 players. That was quickly reduced to just 7 as Leeei was badly injured and Gummy Rat Trap was killed by the Vampires. This allowed the Vampires plenty of room to move and Dachnavar easily carried the ball over the line for a TD. The restart began with the Bloods hurling another lightning bolt (Wizards are fun!!). But again the rats quickly recovered and soon showed why they are one the season’s top teams as the The Sheriff flung a pass to Claw, who then handed the ball off to Scrappy, who sprinted of for the Runner third TD.

In a final highlight of the game – Alyssa Milano was awarded the MVP for the Bloods teams (seriously, I’m not making that up) So, what better way to end the season could any team wish for!!!

Thanks to Adam for definitely one more fun games of the season and good luck to his rats in the finals. And good hunting to everyone else proceeding into the finals and I’m looking forward to playing you all again Season V!
