Third time lucky for the elves against Walt's Warriors

Walt's Warriors Drew 3 Elf matches in a row for the start of Season V, and while picking up two good victories against the High Elves and the Wood Elves, the Dwarves could not pick up the trifector, and lost in a close fought battle against the Dark elves this week.

Walt's warriors received, but due to cockiness over 2 wins, plus the rising stardom of Snow Tacklebeard now on 22 SPP's, they failed to protect the ball as well as they should. And in came the The Cuor Conventio Dark elves, making it hard for the dwarves to make a break for it, still stalled well behind the half way mark. Finally after several rounds of struggle, the elf defenders were marked well, and snow had managed to retain the ball. He just needed to push a lineman aside and run to the safety of his waiting team mates cage. A bad time for skulls to come calling, the re-roll comming up with the same result. Said dark elf lineman picked up the ball, and took an easy stroll over the touchdown line.

Another kickoff to the Dwarves, and they were pressed for time, only 3 rounds remaining, but they formed up well, and pushed hard to get Snow over the line this time.

It was half time, and 1 a piece for touchdowns, and one a piece for casualties. Walts warriors still faced off an even number of Dark elves. And they were to receive.

The kick went up, and Cruor Conventio wasted no time running the ball and caging around it in easy touch down range. Dwarves scrabbled on the defense, and Snow tacklebeard managed to knock the dark elf runner to the ground. The ball bounced, not once, not twice, but 5 times before it found a square that grasping hands would not know it from.

Alas for the Dwarves, the dark elf team knew how to do something that the other elves did not. Make blocks. And soon they had cleared a path around the ball, picked it up, made a hand off, and pushed twice to score a second touchdown.

Walts warriors took another kickoff, still 10 players a sid, now hoping that they could level the score. But the dark elf line was resistant, putting up fight where none was expected, and hampering progress at every turn. Finally their line broke, and so did their armour, A victious round saw 3 elves dragged off the field, and many others struggling to rise. The dwarves could move forward. But the elves continues to throw themselves at the dwarven brigage. And time and time again, the dwarves were foiled by skulls comming up before they had a chance to move forward. Suddenly it was the last turn, and only one dwarf stood in touch down range. But the calculated dark elves, gave that dwarf a little shove, and both coaches knew that was the ball game, his little legs would not carry the distance tot he touch down line.

A very well earned victory to Justorious. Through luck was pretty balanced, and the dark elves saw some casualties, those casualties would have been better earlier in the match when it would have been of use to the dwarves. Ultimately The dark elves played solid defence, throwing almost as many blocks as the dwarves, though only getting through armour a few times. Where the dwarves were generally more successful with blocks, but had a disproportionate amount of turnovers caused by skulls, 8 of 62 blocks causing turnovers, considering they all have block, compared to the Dark Elves 1 of 52. This prevented the stubby legged guys from moving up the pitch, and being able to score. But it shows the good defense of Justoriuous forcing these blocks, and somehow keeping enough players upright to win a victory.
