Prince Valiants Debut

Due to popular demand Prince Valiant has usurped Prince Ferdenands place. Yes, this week just minutes before the match, the disappointing Prince Ferdinand was dragged kicking and screaming from the stadium, as the crowd went wild for the new Dwarven Prince.

In a game where the outnumbered Dark Elf Corsars had to hire a few journeymen players just to meet the 11 man requirements, things did not start out well for the already underdog team. Two Dark elves fell in the opening blows of the game, one a seemingly fatal injury, though the skilled dark elf physician ran on field to save the player, neither would rise to play that night. A third dark elf was promptly pushed from the field by the new Prince Valiant, though the prince was soon to join him in the crowd courtesy of a witch elf. Fortunately, the new Princes approval with the people is high, and he was pleased to spend some time amongst the common folk.

The dwarven crew caged up with the ball. Snow Tacklebeard in possession, and things looked on track, but the smallest of gaps opened up in the dwarven line, and all of a sudden, leaping witch elves were all about knocking Snow to the ground, and swiping the ball from between the dwarves booted feet. Even the Deathroller could not take the witch elves down, and many suspect that such strength and skill could only be the work of alchemy.

The dwarves received again, and though the deathroller was not permitted back on the field, the dwarves still had the numbers, and did things by the book. But still the leaping witch elves had their way, and the ball spilled free. Fortunately a dwarven blitzer was able to recover the ball, and continued unmolested to the end zone after the witch elf was badly hurt. That blitzer had never run so fast, and a near stumble as he crossed the line could have been disastrous for the dwarves.

The elves had a single turn left of the first half, and what at first seemed futile, was suddenly a chance to shine. The elven supporters caused a distraction in the crowd, while others snuck into the tower and wound the turn counter back. The dark elves now had 2 turns to score, and the dwarves were badly out of position. the ball was gathered, and receivers were in place. A panicked dwarven blocker then dodged through 3 tackle zones, rather than go the safe way around in his rush to get into position, ending the dwarves hope to stop the play that was unfolding. The remaining witch elf stopped in the end zone. the runner approached with the ball, but it slipped from his grasp as he made the throw.

By the start of the second half the rain had begun to pour. The dark elves were receiving, but as the kick went up, the dwarven side blitzed. Those unmarked in the line of scrimmage dashed forward on stumpy legs, one tripping over himself, but the other making it under the ball as it began it's decent, though fat fingers could not complete the catch. Most of the dark elves were marked, and the elven runner had a difficult pickup attempt in the rain and facing an angry wet dwarf. The ball slipped from his hands. More dwarves ran up to surround the ball, the dark elf runner was injured by the mob, and soon a second touch down was had by the dwarves.

There were still 4 turns for the dark elves to score an equalizer, but 4 was also the number of players they had left to do so. With skill the elves dodged from the dwarven line, and ran down the flank, while a Dark elf blitzer placed himself under the high kick, and caught the ball. 11 confident dwarves surrounded those that went down the flank, and started after the ball carrier. The dice continues to fail the dark elf coach and a failed block robbed the ball carrier the opportunity to get out of harms way. Dwarves descended on him, taking the ball and forming a solid cage around the blizter who held onto it.

One turn remained, and all the dark elves were on the ground. In a play worthy of the record books, the dark elf blizter stood up facing a dwarven blocker. Dodged into a tackle zone, then dodged into 3, right into the cage protecting the ball carrier, and made a two dice against block versus the experienced dwarven blizter. Down the dwarf went, spilling the ball. The dark elf then dodged again into two tackle zones to attempt to pick up the ball in the pouring rain. The pickup failed, but the courage of that dark elf will be remembered. Snow tacklebeard was close at hand to pick the ball up once again, and score the final touchdown of the match in turn 16. The final score was 3-1 to Walt's Warriors, the MVP going to the new Crown Prince Valiant.
